Around mid-day we got the car packed up and headed to my Aunt Lisa's house...they live in Loomis, CA which is about a 15 minute drive from our house. They just finished building their house last year, and finished re-landscaping the front and backyard mere weeks ago. Let's just say that they did an amazing job and the house looks awesome! They basically have their own vineyard in the front yard, with
rows upon rows of grapes....and the back yard....wow....as you can see from the pictures, it's got everything....an infinity pool (that looks like the edge falls off into oblivion), an actual bocci ball court (with crushed shells as the surface, which is the actual way it is supposed to be played)....they've got a very impressive garden that grows pretty much anything that you could pick up at a typical supermarket....not to mention a shaded BBQ area, a badminton court, and many other things...needless to say, it's a fun place to hang out!
So we did all those things yesterday. We played quite a bit of bocci ball, which is a great game to
chat while you play, not to mention drink some cold drinks when it's a hot day...after doing that for a bit, we worked up a nice sweat, so we dove into the pool...the pool was definitely warmer than the last time, and we were able to keep Landon in it for more than just a few seconds....at first he wasn't really sure what to think of it, but he did grow more accustomed to it as we sat there...he was probably actually in the water for maybe 10 minutes this time...but we didn't want to tempt fate with him, and we feel that it's better to get short trips into the water for now, so he doesn't have a negative feeling about the water.
After swim time, Mom got the chance to dry him off, and I couldn't resist the opportunity to snap this super cute shot. With the infinity pool in the background, it looks more like they are at a nice resort than it does my Aunt's house...crazy.

I also spent a good few hours on the badminton court, where I'm proud to say that I went undefeated for the day....pretty impressive when you consider I hadn't played the game since I was in high school! But I'm also fairly embarassed to admit that I'm actually sore today...you know that you're out of shape when you get sore after playing badminton for a few hours!
To finish up the day, my Uncle Bryon grilled up some really wonderful chicken sandwiches and we just sat around chatting with family and friends...we didn't stick around for the fireworks, as our dogs were hungry and the 4th of July has never been their favorite holiday...so we thought it prudent to get home to be with them...we did hear our neighbors shooting them off well into the night, but we figure that we can wait until Landon is a few years older before we'll start doing them again.
All in all, it was a great day...good company, fun games, and cold drinks...the way a 4th of July should be.
Today should be another fun one, as Michaela's Aunt Laura and cousin Alyssa are probably already in the air headed our way. Not sure exactly what we'll be doing today, but we'll make sure to take pictures no matter what.
Hopefully your holiday was as much fun as ours...see you soon!
