Got Sun?

We do! Yup, we had extreme amounts of sun this weekend…and while it may not have been “Arizona-hot”, it was still warm enough for us to dive into the nearest pool.

Saturday morning we welcomed Michaela’s Aunt Laura and cousin Alyssa, both of who couldn’t wait to meet little Landon (well, he’s not so little anymore…but humor me)….Landon was (and still is) completely fascinated by Alyssa, and she seems to just love watching over him, reading to him, playing with him, or dodging his constant barrage of spit-ups…..Landon also got to meet Aunt Laura, and he has been in constant awe of Laura’s very loud, attention-demanding laugh ever since…it is extremely contagious and whenever he hears her laugh, he just has to add his own to the mix.

After the ladies arrived, we headed back over to my Aunt Lisa and Uncle Bryon’s “Casa de Fun” for Round 2….more swimming, more bocci ball, more badminton, more BBQ, and more beer! We managed to get Landon back in the pool again, and we feel that the second time was definitely better than the first…he seemed much more comfortable hanging out in the water with Mom and Dad…it was definitely a very hot day though, so we tried to keep him out of the sun as much as possible, and we lathered him in baby sunscreen before heading into the water…

We’re pretty confident that Alyssa and Laura had a good time as well. There were a ton of kids there (my cousins, as well as some family friends and some neighborhood kids that were just looking for a place to cool off)….Alyssa had a lot of fun playing with the girls and tormenting the boys…We spent some time horsing around in the pool (Alyssa was doing flips in the water after a few short minutes), and then enjoyed some really excellent BBQ ribs….all in all, it was a nice way to spend a hot Saturday.

Sunday was a little different of a story. I think we were all pretty exhausted from the day before, so we spent a ton of time lounging around…just hanging out with the baby. We watched some television (and movies), played some games, and then had one of my all-time favorite meals…spaghetti and garlic bread! The food was great, but was definitely outmatched by the company…not only was it fun to sit and talk with Laura and Alyssa, it was hilarious to listen to Landon….for some reason, the afternoons have become “Landon’s time to talk”…and let’s just say that he didn’t let us down!!! He was talking his head off while we were eating, so much so, that we couldn’t hear each other over the constant barrage of “AHHHHHH-GGGGGGGGGGOOOOOOO” that was spewing from his mouth….it was quite a sight to behold.

He has also become much more aware of his surroundings lately…it’s pretty cool that whenever Michaela and I enter a room, if he hears our voice, he immediately looks for us…he also is getting much better use of his hands now…to the point where he can usually grab whatever it is he is “aiming” at….trust me, it’s an accomplishment!

All things considered, it was a really great weekend….we’re looking forward to a fun week with Laura and Alyssa here…today was their first day watching the baby by themselves, and from the hourly reports I get from Michaela…it sounds like things are going pretty well….we’ll keep you posted, and look back here for more to come….enjoy the week and don’t work too hard!
