Let's recap the past few days....
Michaela's best friends Ramsey and Becca flew in from Yuma, AZ on Wednesday afternoon and spent the last few days catching up with us and getting to meet their new "nephew" Landon.
This week we went for a few walks with the dogs, were able to have several nice dinners and the girls even managed to get away for some fun girl time (while Landon and I had some father-son time).
These three women grew up together and are about as close as they come. It is pretty cool that all three are in the same place in their lives right now, so we're hopeful that we'll get to raise our families together and get to share in family vacations and other special occasions. All three are now married, Ramsey is currently 5 months pregnant and Becca and her husband are going to be starting their family shortly.
While the ladies were here, there were many discussions on child-related things. Gone are the days where we'd stay out all hours of the night, frequenting the local pub or wearing out our dancin' shoes. This trip was full of dirty diapers, breast pumps, and the occasional late-night baby cry. It was definitely a learning experience for both women, and we hope that Michaela and I were able to impart some of our recent experiences to them. It's funny to hear about how different we now are, as there is really nothing like seeing yourself through someone else's eyes. We have definitely changed quite a bit, but change is inevitable, and look at the beautiful baby we get to raise along the way!
Landon sure did enjoy spending some time with his new aunts, and even got into the occasional staring contest with each of them.
On Friday, Landon had his big two month doctor's appointment. The doctor pronounced him in great health, saying that he seemed much more alert than many two month old's that he's seen. It was actually pretty funny to watch Landon giggle at the doctor while he was being examined....even the doctor couldn't help but smile quite a few times! Landon is now weighing in at 13 lbs, 4 oz....we figure that between his ever-expanding belly and his knack for spitting up on just about every outfit he owns, we're going to have to start dressing him in tarps, ponchos, or circus tents! But he's healthy, and the doctor gave him his approval, so we'll keep doing what we're doing.
After the "fun part" of the appointment was over, Landon got his first round of immunization shots....while it wasn't without tears, it went very well...he only cried for a short period of time, and while he did have a fever the night after, he seemed back to his normal self by yesterday...we won't have to worry about another round of shots for two more months, so we're very happy about that.
Other than that, I went and saw Indiana Jones IV on Friday. It was great...definitely an Indiana Jones movie...the ending didn't sit well with me, but it was still better than most movies that we get now days and will definitely be in my collection when it hits DVD.Michaela, Becca, Ramsey, and I got to go out to Macaroni Grill for a nice "adult" dinner on Saturday (Grandma Dawn and Grandpa Dennis watched the baby). It was really nice to get out and visit with our friends over a good meal. While we were there, we noticed a little boy that was sitting up in his high chair all on his own. He didn't look much older than Landon (we had guessed around 4-5 months old), so we decided to ask his parents....apparently the little boy was 9 months old! Needless to say, it just put in perspective to us not only how big Landon is, but also how alert and happy he is. He is such a joy to be around and we figure if he keeps up this current pace, he'll be driving by the time he's 4 years old (of course it'll have to be a school bus as that'll be the only vehicle he'll be able to fit in by then)!
Well...hope you are having a great extended weekend. I'll be back with another post tomorrow, as there are quite a few pictures to post...
