Hot Dog Hot Dog Hot Diggity Dog!

Hello Burgess Baby Blog Readers! Thanks for your devotion to our blog...even when we have a week between posts. We are sorry we slack now and then, but will try to get back to 2 a week if time allows - meaning Landon allows. Anyhow, let's get to it!

We had another wonderful weekend in the Burgess household. We had a visit from Grampa Skip who drove all the way from Flagstaff Arizona to spend the weekend with us. Grampa arrived Friday afternoon, just as Landon and I were pulling into the drive way. I have to say how surprised I was at how quickly Landon warmed up to our weekend guest. Landon usually takes a bit to ease into someone, but he was quickly jumping on Grampa's lap for books and giving him hugs. It was a fun sight to see, as well as a pleasure for my Dad.
Friday night we went out for a yummy dinner at BJ's Brewery. Grampa had not had the opportunity to see how well Landon was at restaurants, so we all ventured out for the early bird special. The funny thing was, it wasn't the typical "early birds" we had expected (older folks) but the restaurant was filled with family after family with kids and more kids. I guess that's when those with kids eat - early! At least we didn't feel bad towards the end of the meal when Landon started getting ancy and ready to leave. So were the other kids. We enjoyed our meal and Grampa's first night in town and then went home to get Landon bathed and in bed. Since Grampa Skip was only able to stay the weekend, we tried to make the most of his visit. We didn't want to do a lot of running around, since most of his days off from work are spent working on projects or in the yard, so we really just tried to lay low and get in as much "Landon time" as possible. That is, with the exception of Saturday!
The day started out normal enough, with morning "hellos" from Landon. Now that Landon is able to get in and out of his bed as he pleases, it is quite funny to wake up to his face inches from mine. As soon as he sees my eyes pop open, I get a big smile and "hiiiiiiii!" from him. Along with a 30lb body slam and hug. He'll then proceed over to Dustin, do the same before hopping off the bed and running down the hall. This time, it was to great Grampa with a big morning hug and hello before immediatly pointing to the tv asking to watch his favorite new show. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. If you've ever seen it, you know how easily the song "Hot Dog" gets stuck in your head...and we all find ourselves humming it through out the day. But that's getting us sidetracked.

We all ate a yummy breakfast Saturday morning, thanks to yours truly, and soon Grampa Barry was knocking on the door ready to roll on a project. So he and Grampa Skip installed a gazebo in our backyard for us. It didn't take long to set up and we are very appreciative of the extra shade it provides! Now if only it starts cooling down a tad more we will be eating dinners out side on our now covered patio. Fall should be gorgeous! Thanks for taking the time to put it up for us guys.

After the gazebo was installed, we all relaxed and enjoyed some tasty grilled burgers, much deserved beers for the boys and wonderful company. Landon didn't disapoint by scarfing down some burger & fries too - all dipped in ranch of course.

Sunday came and went too quickly and soon it was time for Grampa to head home. Not before making a trip to Best Buy and surprising us with an early Christmas present of some awesome outdoor speakers that we've been wanting. It was nice to sit outside and listen to music on the patio with out worrying about the music inside waking Landon up. We will certainly get a ton of use out of them! We also made another minor purchase - some new golf clubs! For Landon that is. Dustin was finally able to get Landon some clubs of his own and he had a lot of fun teaching Landon how to swing and put. Guinness also had fun retrieving the balls! Good times :-)

That about sums up our weekend. We really don't have any new "Landonisms" to report. He's still huge, still happy and crazy, and still getting smarter and smarter by the minute. Maybe we'll have something new in a few days...so check back soon!

I like Landon's morning greetings. Too funny!
