Let's start with Friday. Landon had his 1 Year Well Child exam. Landon's doctor (who we love!) examined Landon and answered all of our 1000 questions. He gave an overall "great health" report and told us to keep up the great work. We also were told (once again) what a big boy we have. Landon weighed in at a whopping 27lbs 9oz and is in the 95th percentile for his age and weight. The doctor started to suggest that this was something we might keep an eye on as he gets older...that was until he got to the height. Landon is in the 100th percentile for his age/height and is 33 and 1/4 inches tall. Yep, he's going to be a tall boy! The doctor agreed that for his height, Landon is a perfect weight and is nothing we should be concerned with. He's just a big kid! Given Dad's 6'3" and Mom's 5'10", it's no surprise that Landon is the size that he is. They also measured his head, but I can't think of what the measurement was. All I know is he's right in the "normal" range and his head is in proportion to the rest of him. All that matters, right?
After the doctor's appt and the shots to which Landon protested by shaking his head back and forth in the "no" manner, we headed home to watch UofA take on Louisville in the NCAA tournament. It was only a matter of time before we were turning off the TV and doing other things, since we were getting our butts kicked! Oh well...another season will be here soon. Maybe with a new head coach we will have another shot next year. Needless to say, Landon's UofA jersey has been packed away for safe keeping and will makes it's debut next season...and will hopefully fit him a little better!
Today has been pretty uneventful. Well, sort of. I say that, yet it has taken me close to 5 hours to finish todays blog. Dustin went golfing this morning with Adam, his boss Mike and Step Dad Dennis, so it was just The Bugs and me. We had fun, but it's difficult getting the every day stuff done when it's just the two of us. Between laundry, loading and unloading the dish washer and getting Landon fed, put down for a nap and everything in between, it's been a full day. Landon did show me a few new tricks he's learned though. Like climbing! As I had my back turned unloading the dishwasher, Landon took that 30 seconds to show off his new skill and before I knew it, he was standing on the shelves that hold our dog's water and food bowls (see previous post for the picture of him crouching in front of these for an idea what I'm talking about). I grabbed him and brought him in the kitchen with me and then he continued showing off his new skill by pulling out the bottom drawer and then using the handles from the drawers above to climb up to the top. He's a monkey! It really made me realize that no matter how "baby proof" you think your house is, there is always something they can get in to - in a matter of seconds! He's safe and sound though and I'm learning to utilize the eyes in the back of my head! ;-) Finally, here is a picture of Landon this morning during the "Mommy & Me" time we had. Landon received this basketball hoop for his birthday and it will grow with him for the next few years. I think we already need to move the hoop up, as he can reach the rim. We've already taught him to slam dunk! All we say is, "Landon, can you slam dunk?" and he'll go and find his ball and then take it to the hoop. Watch out - UofA Basketball class of 2026!
Hope everyone had a great weekend and we'll post again soon. Hopefully! xoxo Dustin, Michaela, Landon, Guinness & Jack
