Son of a Sailor

As I’m sure most of you know through our various references to Jimmy Buffett, the way that we decorated the baby’s room, and our love of all things nautical…we’re definitely into boats. My Uncle Dirk had a great sailboat that we would take on tours of San Francisco Bay…which was always a blast! Michaela and I will even sometimes fantasize what it’d be like to live on a sailboat when we retire (probably too cramped, but you never know)…

“Where is he going with all this talk about boats?”…I’m sure you are asking yourself….well, it just so happens that My Mom and Dennis went out and bought a boat this week! No, it’s not a sailboat like Dirk had, but it still floats in the water and is pretty beautiful in it’s own right….well, probably more “cool” than beautiful, but you get my drift. The boat seats 8 people, has water ski and tubing gear, and we will definitely spend plenty of the hot summer hours aboard it this year!! Here is a picture for your viewing pleasure.
One concern that we had about the boat was…”What are we going to do with the baby?”…we’ve heard so many things about babies needing to stay out of the sun and that sunscreen is bad for their skin and all that…we ended up discussing our concerns with our pediatrician, who assured us that as long as he’s adequately covered, with sunscreen on anything exposed to the sun, and that he’s not out in it for too long, he’s good to go….as you can see here…they even make infant life jackets!

So dust off the swim trunks, get the beer chilled, and the music blaring, cuz it’s going to be one heck of a summer!
