Hey Everybody,
While I'm sad to report that our weekend is over, at least I can say that it was a fun one! We ended up getting in quite alot of fun-filled activities that started with a Doctor's appointment on Friday and ended with a romping good time at a friend's birthday party on Sunday.
So I guess I'll begin with the Doctor's appointment. I am here to report that our son is still a beefcake, weighing in at approximately 32.2 lbs and measures 2'11" tall...so he's in the 99th percentile for height and 98 percentile for weight at his age....I told you he is a beefcake! Other than taking his measurements, we got to talk to the Doctor about his development, and it sounds like he's right where he should be....so that's good to know. Unfortunately we had to end the appointment with another round of vaccination shots...Landon cried for a few short minutes and then gave the poor nurse his famous "stink eye" look...basically saying "How dare you!" without having to say it.
On Saturday Michaela got up and went for another 12 mile run, which gave me plenty of time to hang with Landon. We played up the storm, but also discovered a fun new way to pass the time. We actually sat down at the computer and looked up clips of different animals on YouTube. It was great! We watched lions and tigers roar, penguins waddle, and giraffes run (among many others). Landon couldn't get enough of it, and was laughing his head off for quite a while. Just goes to show you how different it is for kids growing up now days!
After Michaela got home, we crammed in a bunch of errands and a nap for Landon before heading over to Landon's good buddy Anthony's house for dinner and fun. As we have mentioned before Anthony is one day younger than Landon and they are basically inseparable at school. As soon as we got there the boys took off to play with all of Anthony's fun toys while the grownups settled in for some beverages and conversation.
The boys had a really great time playing with each other. It's funny because at daycare they are so close that they have actually developed a language of their own, that only they can understand...we could hear them jibber-jabbering away, trading toys, and rough-housing. There were definitely a few times where they both wanted the same toys, but Anthony was very gracious about sharing with his buddy and everything went very smoothly. The night was topped off by some delicious tri-tip and grilled chicken, which we just had to bring home as leftovers. All things considered, we had a great evening with them and hope to do it again soon.
This morning we woke up bright and early again (thanks to Landon for the 5am wake-up call), and got the morning started off with some coffee and football. We headed over to my Mom's house for a quick visit, and then it was off to another friend's birthday party. Landon's buddy Ulysses (a son of one of my friend's from work) turned 2 years old recently and they had his birthday party at "My Gym" in Folsom. It's basically just a wide open area with mats all over the place and all kinds of fun physical activities that the kids can do. Not only did Landon get to hang with Ulysses, but his good friend Nicholas was there as well, so they had a really great time. In the picture below, Ulysses is up top and Nicholas is showing us his belly button.
Landon was partial to the "ball pit" and the zip line ride, but really had fun with it all. It definitely took the energy out of him, and I can safely say that he's asleep for the rest of the night.
Now I'm planning to sit next to my wife, catch up on a little television, and get my batteries recharged for another week of work.
Hope you had a nice weekend!
