Happy Labor Day Everybody! So I'm still trying to wrap my mind around the fact that we have a "Labor Day" where no one works. Shouldn't we all actually be working on Labor Day? Oh well, I'm not complaining.
After a relaxing (aka lazy) day of reading to Landon (who was now seeming like he was on the brink of an illness) and watching Dustin and Dave's new favorite show "Son's of Anarchy" we decided to get out of the house and go for a swim. We headed over to Casa de Sattler for a little afternoon swim and short visit. Landon had fun playing in their giant backyard while the older boys played bocci ball. We ended the evening with a tasty bowl of spaghetti made with rice noodles. Dave has a gluten allergy and can not have anything made with wheat. We were all pleasantly surprised at how tasty the new noodles were! It might be something we try again, even with out Uncle Dave in town!
We've had a wonderful 3-day weekend. It all started when we got a call from Landon's Godfather Dave who told us he was going to be in town and was hoping to stay with us for a few days. Since we haven't seen Dave since last December, we were super excited to make plans.
Dave got in on Friday evening, and immediately jumped into "Godfather" mode, making up for lost time by getting to know Landon. It was really great to catch up with him, and Landon became comfortable with "Uncle Dave" very early on.
On Saturday we got the morning started off on the right foot by going for a run, taking Landon to the park, then we ran a few errands and headed back home to play outside. At one point Landon was diving in and out of his pool in the backyard while the three grownups played a game of H-O-R-S-E on Landon's basketball hoop. It was great!
We ended the evening with a tasty london broil steak, grilled aspargus and Landon's favorite side dish - black beans and rice. We were even able to enjoy the night after Landon went to bed and we were able to catch up with Dave. It was a fantastic night and really wonderful visit with him.
Sunday morning came all too quickly and the after effects of the night before hit home for everyone. That is, except Landon who was roaring
to go bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. The rest of the clan (with the exception of Michaela) could not say as much. We attempted an excursion out for breakfast, but opted to make a yummy breakfast at home instead.

Monday came all too soon (as it usually does!) but at least we didnt' have to wake up and head to work...Thank you Labor Day! We finally made it out to a nice breakfast and enjoyed more fun times and memories before Dustin had to take Dave to the airport. It was a wonderful weekend and we're so thankful Dave was able to make it out and spend time with the Burgess family.
Hopefully we'll have another visit again soon...and maybe someday down the road, our visits with ours and his family with be in the same town and will be weekend family bbq's rather then weekend visits.
Hope everyone else had a great Labor Day weekend and were able to make as many new great memories as we were! Check back soon for another Landon update...and we did want to update that his potty mouth isn't as bad as it was last week....we're reinforcing "oh no" instead of his other saying. :-)
