The stuff you can't plan for...

Hey Everyone,

This is going to be a very video-centric blog post today, as we had something serious pop up this week and to be honest, my heart is just not really into blogging right now. For those of you that haven't heard, our Black Lab Jack has been very sick this week and actually hasn't been able to keep down or eat anything for 5 days now. We've been bouncing around between several vets and Jack actually had to spend last night at the emergency vet hospital up in Loomis. It has been a terrible ordeal and while the vet told us this morning that Jack still isn't completely out of the woods yet, he is in much better condition than he was just yesterday. They are still waiting on some test results (which they won't get until sometime next week) to confirm their diagnosis, but they believe that Jack has a certain kind of bacterial virus that attacks his liver and kidneys. His blood levels were into the critical stages and he was in very serious condition. Anyhow, it does sound like he's doing better this morning and we're going to get to go visit him at the hospital this afternoon. If he continues to get better, we may be able to take him home as early as tomorrow, but that's just going to depend on how he's doing.

We want to thank everyone that has offered their prayers and support for Jack. We love him as a child and we are hopeful that he'll make a speedy recovery.

For those of you thinking about getting a pet, keep in mind that these types of things happen (although they seem to happen more than usual for this particular dog) and they are INSANELY expensive. And if you think that's fun, let's just say that having a kid is like this multiplied by 10,000!! So this is your public service announcement for the day...make sure you can afford this type of thing before running out and getting that cute puppy and especially before making a baby! ;)

A quick family update....Landon is good. He got bit by one of his so called "friends" this week, and has a fat bruise on his arm. He also fell and hit his head on a table on Friday, so he has a pretty good bruise on his forehead to match. Besides his physical woes, Landon is really coming into his own as a two year old. His vocabulary continues to get better all the time. We figured out that he was so good at saying "Michael" the other day because we watch the show "The Office", but we always tell Landon we're going to watch Michael Scott (the main character played by Steve Carell). So Landon gets alot of practice at saying "Michael". He's also getting more accustomed to "parroting" whatever we say back to us, so we have to be exta careful about what we say around him.

As for the videos....

The first one shows Landon enjoying a cupcake....we had a couple lying around and thought it would make for a nice dessert for him...and a funny video for us!

The second video shows Landon enjoying a tunnel slide at a new park...sorry my camera work isn't all that stellar...I had to help him get up into the slide...and as you can tell, he hasn't figured out that he needs to keep his feet up yet.

The last video is one I took this morning. The three of us went out to Folsom to go for a run...Michaela ran 10 miles and I ran 5 miles while pushing Landon in the stroller....after we got back, we had some time to kill while Michaela finished up her run, so we set out to explore a parking garage...as you can see, it was comepletely abandoned and Landon really enjoyed running around and hearing his voice echo off the walls...

I think that's about it for now. We'll keep you posted as we find out more about Jack. Hope you have a great weekend!
